'commands require root use sudo or become root using sudo -i

1. ffmpeg

wget https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye/wiki/precompiled/ffmpeg_2.8.3.git325b593-1_armhf.deb

dpkg -i ffmpeg_2.8.3.git325b593-1_armhf.deb

2. install motion

apt-get install motion

3. Install the dependencies from the repositories:

apt-get install python-pip python-dev curl libssl-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libjpeg-dev

4. Install motioneye

pip install motioneye

5. Prepare the configuration directory

mkdir -p /etc/motioneye

cp /usr/local/share/motioneye/extra/motioneye.conf.sample /etc/motioneye/motioneye.conf

6. Prepare the media directory:

mkdir -p /var/lib/motioneye

7. Add an init script, configure it to run at startup and start the motionEye server:

cp /usr/local/share/motioneye/extra/motioneye.systemd-unit-local /etc/systemd/system/motioneye.service

systemctl daemon-reload

systemctl enable motioneye

systemctl start motioneye

8. To upgrade to the newest version of motionEye :

pip install motioneye --upgrade

systemctl restart motioneye

9. open motioneye

from web browser enter "http://[your raspberry pi ip address]:8765"

url =  http://192.168.0.121:81/videostream.cgi?
username = admin [default for my Win T-6835WIP]
password = [your password]

[recommend you test out the connection to your IP camera [i used yawcam and iSpy64] from your laptop/desktop first so you know it is working.  i needed to enter my user name and password in the url only, not the user name and password blocks.  if i just entered in the user name and password blocks I got a "camera not supported error]

camera type = network camera

url = http://[ip camera address]:port/videostream.cgi?user=[username]&pwd=[password]"

'example http://192.168.0.199:81/videostream.cgi?user=USERNAME&pwd=PASSWORD"

user name = leave blank as included above

password = leave blank as included above

ONKYO TX SR313 No Sound/Remote control not working

No sound - Perform a "hard reset".  Note this procedure will reset any settings you have programmed (i.e. radio stations, etc). With the unit off, on front panel, press both the VCR/DVR button and power button simultaneously.  Release both when unit turns on and "clear" shows in the display.  Unit will power off.  Power on and my unit was back to normal.

Remote control not working - Red light powers on when buttons are pushed but receiver does not respond.  See procedure above.

My unit was under warranty when the sound output failed.  Closest store handling warranty work (40 min drive) told me to bring it in.  Dropped it off and week after they called to say it was ready.  Seemed kind of fast.  Was not until I got home and looked at the receipt that it said "performed "hard reset" and operation returned to normal.   Wish they would have asked me to try that before bringing it in.

Got it home and a week later, the remote stopped working.  Decided to try the "hard reset" and remote is now working again.

Western Digital My Book Live 2TB Data Recovery

problem:  Blue light turned to red after 40 seconds.  reset button did not work.  solid green light bottom (1GB) and flashing green light top.  Computer would not recognize drive.  Although the drive was under warranty, data recovery is not covered and is very expensive ($50 just for diagnosis).

decision: try and recover data myself as cheaper to do that and buy a new unit than pay a data recovery service then have drive replaced under warranty.

step 1:

remove the cover.  lots of youtube videos searching for "remove wd hard drive".  this was most helpful. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Western+Digital+My+Book+Live+Teardown/26942
as you only have to work the 4 tabs and takes about 30 seconds.  one side then the other.

rest of the disassembly is straight forward.

step 2:

access your data on the drive.  I have a PC running windows 7 64 bit and used R - Linux.    I had an extra sata port on my motherboard so hooked it up internal to my PC.

http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/Download.shtml

my daya was in the EXT4 partition.  see nfodiz post

http://community.wd.com/t5/My-Book-Live/R-Linux-help/td-p/541235

step 3:

recover files to another hard drive

Samsung SyncMaster 206BW repair

after 4 years, monitor started to blink.  couple seconds blank, 1 second normal.   would last until reboot then work normally for a while.  started to get worse.  was not sure if it was graphics card or monitor.

hooked up a good monitor to the graphics card (two outputs) and eventually the symptoms returned on the one while the other worked so knew it was not the card.

found an article on identifying bad capacitors on power supplies [they bulge at the top] along with some you tube videos of opening up monitors.

half dozen screws and couple of connectors later I found 3 capacitors that were bulging.  $5 at radio shack and 30 min later monitor was back in action.

top photo is before.
